I've been betting on the EPL since last August when the season started. Here are the strategies that actually make money.
Strategy 1: Promoted Teams at Home (Early Season)
Newly promoted teams are fired up at home in August-October. Bookmakers underestimate their home form because they're 'weaker' overall. Bet on promoted teams at home in the first 10 gameweeks.
Historical win rate: 45% vs implied 30-35%.
Strategy 2: Big 6 Away Unders
When two Big 6 teams (City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, United, Spurs) play each other away, the game is often cagey. Under 2.5 goals hits about 55% of the time in these fixtures.
Strategy 3: Post-Champions League Fatigue
Teams playing Champions League midweek often underperform in Saturday early kickoffs. Bet against them or take the draw at bigger odds.
Win rate: ~40% on the opponent, but at juicy odds (3.0+), it's profitable.
Strategy 4: December Congestion
December has the most fixtures. Teams with thin squads suffer. Track squad depth and bet against teams playing 3 games in 7 days.
Strategy 5: Last Day of Season
Teams with nothing to play for on the final day are unpredictable. But teams fighting relegation on the last day almost always win if they're at home. Bet on relegation-threatened teams at home on the final day.
My EPL Record This Season
- Total bets: 67 - Won: 38 (56.7%) - Average odds: 2.22 - ROI: +9.1% - Net profit: $420 (from $50 average stake)
