I've been through losing streaks that lasted weeks. Here's how I survive them without destroying my bankroll.
The Reality
Even with a 58% win rate, you WILL have losing weeks. A 7-bet losing streak is statistically likely within any 100-bet sample. It's not bad luck — it's math.
My Losing Streak Protocol
After 3 consecutive losses: - Reduce bet size by 50% - Review if my recent picks were based on solid analysis or gut feeling - Take a 2-hour break minimum
After 5 consecutive losses: - Stop betting for the rest of the day - Review all 5 losing bets — what went wrong? - Was I following my process or deviating?
After 7 consecutive losses: - Take 2-3 days off completely - No research, no betting, no checking odds - Reset mentally - When I return, go back to minimum bet size
After 10 consecutive losses: - Full week off - Seriously evaluate if my strategy still works - Check if market conditions changed - Consider seeking advice from other bettors
What NOT to Do During a Streak
1. ❌ Increase bet size to 'recover faster' 2. ❌ Chase losses on random bets 3. ❌ Switch strategies mid-streak (the streak IS your strategy working as expected over a small sample) 4. ❌ Bet on sports/games you don't know 5. ❌ Tell yourself 'I'm due for a win'
The Math of Recovery
If you lose 10 bets at $20 each (-$200), recovering at $20 bets with 58% win rate: - Expected profit per bet: $20 x (0.58 x 2.0 - 1) = $3.20 - Bets to recover: $200 / $3.20 = ~63 bets - At 3 bets/day: ~3 weeks
It's slow. But it's SAFE. And it works.
My Worst Streak
11 losses in a row in February. I followed my protocol — stopped for a week, came back with minimum bets, and recovered over 3 weeks. Total damage: -$420. Could have been $4,000+ if I chased.
